Music and Lyrics by Brad Lauretti (2016)

Don’t Let the Dreamers Die

Sometimes you follow your dreams and fail
Sometimes you make a mistake and end up in jail
Everyone knows someone that we love
who needs our help when trouble comes

So don’t let the dreamers die
cause someday you’ll wish that we were there
to give you hope when no one cares
to give you courage when no one dares

I know that laughter saved our lives
but music saved my soul
so it’s time for us to share
if we can’t make it on our own

every problem that we face
has a human cause or trace
don’t stick your head into the sand
when you could lend a helping hand

So don’t let the dreamers die
cause someday you’ll wish that we were there
to give you hope when no one cares
to give you courage when no one dares

so many people drown in pain
some unknown and some in fame
it can be hard to just get through the day
we need to know that its ok

So don’t let the dreamers die
cause someday you’ll wish that we were there
to give you hope when no one cares
to give you courage when no one dares

I know that laughter saved our lives
but music saved my soul
so it’s time for us to share
cause life is not a joke

Colorado Camping Catastrophe
I went out into the forest of Colorado Springs
Smoked a little something so my colors could run free
Just the Magic Mountains, the flowers, and me
and a few friendly neighbors or so I did believe

We just had a tent and we didn’t have a plan
we gathered up some firewood and then it all began
We were laughing and singing and the only thing I thought
is that a mountain lion might sneak up right upon our spot

But then I quickly realized that I was unprepared
some psycho started shooting all his ammunition there
it was way past sunset in a public place
I wish I could have slapped that guy somewhere face to face

I didn’t know if he was drunk or joking or had lost his mind
but I wasn’t gonna waste any of my time
I grabbed my girlfriend and my dog and we left the tent
leaving right at that moment I never did regret

Colorado Camping Catastrophe
What is the meaning of our freedom
Or what it ought to be?

I drove all the way down the mountain thank god I had some friends
the hotels were all taken up cause it was the weekend
All I wanted was a peaceful night underneath the stars
but instead I am singing this story in a bar

Now I was really scared cause it was really dark
I didn’t expect this kind of danger in our national parks
a month before some poor soul had already gotten shot
but a month went past and it seems everyone forgot...

Well I don’t care if you’re on the left or the right
I believe in responsibility as any good citizen might
but what we have in America is totally out of control
When you can blaze a machine gun but you cannot smoke a bowl.

Colorado Camping Catastrophe
What is the meaning of our freedom
Or what it ought to be?

I Love Immigration

I love Immigration
I love Immigration
it’s the driving force behind our nation
so use your imagination
it’s a journey not a destination
I say this now without any hesitation

When my great grandpa was just 13
he came all the way from Italy
sailing on a ship to the land of hope and freedom
Well he wanted to escape poverty
well here’s a little history
America should have been named Vespucci!

I love Immigration
I love Immigration
it’s the driving force behind our nation
so use your imagination
it’s a journey not a destination
I say this now without any hesitation

Now a few years later he had to go back
‘cause the powers that be were on the attack
and he swore us all an oath of loyalty
to be part of this great citizenry
he had to prove his bravery
so he got a purple heart and
now we have our freedom.

Well I love Immigration
I love Immigration
it’s the force that brought me to this nation
so use your imagination
it’s a journey not a destination
I say this now without any hesitation

Now if you’re one for irony he had to stop speaking openly
and changed his name cause people called us names
well he worked real hard in a factory, and started my family
and because of people like us we have spaghetti

I love Immigration
I love Immigration
it’s the force that brought me to this nation
its not an investigation
not a reason for interrogation
so forget your walls and end this exploitation

I’ve never met an immigrant that I didn’t like
they just came here for a better life
and cause our restaurants need diversity
heck I was just looking at my DNA
I’m pretty much a mutt in every way
so I hate hate cause I can’t hate myself

Now unless you’re Native American
I got some good information
you probably better stop complaining
cause for every incarceration
we could have had some education
so forget your walls and end this exploitation

Well I love Immigration
I love Immigration
it’s the driving force behind our nation
so use your imagination
it’s a journey not a destination
I say this now without any hesitation

It Don’t Make No Sense

I tried so hard to believe
that everyone was gonna be free
that I could live and hope and love
and everything would just fall from up above

but now I know that isn’t true
we got a lot a lot a lot a lot of work to do
people gambling with our lives
They throw away what we need to survive!

It Don’t Make No Sense!

You’re probably watching the TV
about a million refugees
Everyone of them looks just like you and me
But instead we turn away from their humanity

It Don’t Make No Sense!

People must have lost in their minds
to know the truth before it arrives
it doesn’t matter if it is a lie
just throw another one onto the pile

It Don’t Make No Sense!

We’re gonna have to stop this war machine
and give the people clean energy
why the hell are we building on the beach
When it’s gonna wash away quicker than me

Free Market Music

I have to prove myself every single day
in a different town across the USA
now once in awhile I might get something free
but karma's too slow if the banks are counting on me

well the traitors on wall st. they have a divine plan
what’s good for their investors ain’t always good for man
so just pay the workers for the labor of their hands
cause now I'm speaking up for all of our demands

Free market music you better not abuse it
cause some poor musician's suffering
technology is great, but it ain’t always good
so pay musicians what you should.

I’ve heard it all before from people in the know
just sell a bunch of t-shirts or tickets to a show
if they had to live upon that income stream
I bet they’d buy that tune, if you know what I mean.

I know what it’s like to be homeless
I know what it’s like to be poor
but if you want a world filled with music
then pay musicians what we’re working for.

Free market music you better not abuse it
cause some poor musician's suffering
gratitude is great, but it won’t buy me food
So throw some dough in my boot

Now I believe in stuff like Democracy
and maybe someday music can be free
but if we can’t stop all this inequality
then just give the people what we need

Cause if I can’t buy a home
or pay my student loans
well if you want a healthy economy
then pay me something so that I can breathe

Free market music you better not abuse it
cause some poor musician's suffering
technology is great, but it ain’t always good
so pay the people what you should

Never Gonna be the Same

I woke up yesterday everything seemed strange
my life was kind of plain, or was it disarray
never gonna be the same

sailing on the ocean
I think it might be growing
but it all washes away
never gonna be the same

I hate to have to say
learning is just pain
there is no other way

gather round the fire
it’s time for us to play
stare into the flame
never gonna be the same

everything’s connected
it can not be rejected
it’s all inside your brain
never gonna be the same

My Heart Tells Me Yes

My heart tells me yes, but my mind tells me no
it’s so hard to decide which way to go
the wind won’t stop cause it’s gonna blow
My heart tells me yes when my mind tells me no.

I wake up every morning feeling really high
by the time I go to bed I’m still wondering why
every moment is struggle and strife
when I should be out there living my life

Who am I to tell me that I’m wrong
do I believe myself or the singer of this song
manic depression it comes and it’s gone
I hope it goes quick cause it’s lasting too long.

(Bridge)
My heart, oh my heart wants to live
and my mind is fed up to here
with all this conflict and blame
I know the cause of suffering
it is one and the same

It’s so easy for me to give
cause giving what’s got me what I need to live
but sometimes I’m waiting for it to come back
but it’s hard when I’m feeling when I know what I lack

It’s not so easy to know what to do
with all these barriers you got to go through
obstacles seem pointless and arbitrary
but without them I guess there’d be no misery.

Of course I need help but there’s none to be had
but I will never quit, no matter how it gets bad
I try to be stoic, but even the Bhudda cried
My heart is all mad cause my mind had to lie.

Catfish and Cornbread

You don't have to be from the country to eat catfish and cornbread
you just have to love it, and drop it in a muffin tin
the cities and the suburbs still need to be fed
so don't forget the farmers when you’re scratching at your head.

My momma was born in an old house at the corner of a country road
Sand and trees surround us, but the pecans still could grow
hummingbirds, woodpeckers, bird dogs, and toads
when I was just a child that's all I cared to know.

They didn't have a TV set so there's no way to get bored
I could go out in the yard and dig yourself a hole
soybeans and cotton, strawberries, tobacco
when you got yourself some land there's nowhere you can't go.

You don't have to be from the country to eat catfish and cornbread
you just have to love it, and forget about what they said
the cities and the suburbs still need to be friends
just don't forget the farmers when your eating in your bed

There was a pond a ways away and a rotten old dirty boat
the water wasn't always pretty it looked more like a moat
you wouldn't wanna go swimming, but the catfish love to float
eating off the bottom well god knows what they don't

Someday I hope you find yourself at a good old fish fry
with all your friends around you and the apple of your eye
well I'm NO HUSH PUPPY, but at least I can try!
to live and breath and die with food that makes the people smile.

You don't need a lot between your ears, or anything in your head
You just have to wisen up to catfish and cornbread!

Mountain Laurel Lightning (Written by Brad Lauretti/Andre Karpov)

Mountain Laurel Lightning the thunder is so frightening
Down into the canyon never to return

The fire is waiting and we are celebrating
Things we do not know

Its starting to happen starting to happen now

The leader is a junky the minstrel plays a monkey
The actors busy acting this scene is so distracting

Its starting to happen starting to happen now

Through a forest full of whistles
And laser guided missles

Were going to take them going to take them down

Down to Mountain Laurel Lightning
The thunder is not so frightening
If you stay here with me

The songs they render senseless
The source it is relentless
The stars are staring at us

It’s starting to happen now

Everyone’s in My Dreams

Everyone’s in my dream x 2
Try and get lost try and get lost
Try and get lost in our dreams

Rip Van Winkle is Sleeping
Under an Apple Tree
Gravity Gravity is going to sink your soul

Everyone’s in my dream x 2
Try and get lost try and get lost
Try and get lost in our dreams

I see the devil in you
I see a flower in you
I don’t mean to imply or put you in my dreams

Everyone’s in my dream x 2
Try and get lost try and get lost
Try and get lost in our dreams
